Meet Our Shihan

Shihan Michael Hernandez

Welcome to The Martial Arts Center. My name is Michael Hernandez, and I am the owner and chief instructor of TMAC. I began my martial arts journey in 1976 at age five under the late Hanshi John Pachivas in Miami, Florida—the Chief Instructor for the late Master Robert Trias, founder of Shuri-Ryu Karatedo.

Over the next 25 years, I had the privilege of training under world-renowned instructors, including Master Robert Trias, Hanshi Robert Bowles, Hanshi Ridgely Abele, Hanshi Steve Roensch, and Hanshi John Pachivas. I have also traveled nationally and internationally for seminars, competitions, and exhibitions.

Currently, I hold the rank of 7th Dan in both Shuri-Ryu Karatedo and Shintoyoshin-Kai Jiujitsu. TMAC has been the center of my life for the past 25 years, allowing me to mentor and teach children and adults of all ages and backgrounds. Our Dojo is dedicated to being a resource for health, fitness, self-defense, and personal development for you and our community.
